Deep Creek Lake

The largest inland body of water in Maryland, Deep Creek Lake offers year-round outdoor adventures, including kayaking, fishing, boating and jet-skiing. White-water rafting and fly-fishing is available on the rivers and streams that feed the lake. The area additionally boasts three golf courses and numerous hiking opportunities in three nearby state parks.

In the winter, the Wisp Ski Resort offers seven chairs over one hundred seventy-two acres, with ski runs ranging in difficulty from green to double-black. Ice-fishing, showshoeing, and ski-mobiles are easily available in the area as well.

 

Mammoth Lakes

Tucked into the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, Mammoth Lakes is spectacularly beautiful and ecologically unique. Numerous opportunities abound in the area for hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, and fishing. Devils Postpile and Mono Lake are two nearby unique excursions.

Mammoth Mountain itself offers one hundred twenty-five ski and snowboarding trails, with a season that often lasts into July. Snowcat tours, tubing, or even a change of pace at nearby June Mountain are also available.
